Y2 had a fabulous trip to Smithill's Farm to learn all about The Countryside. We got to see, hold and feed animals. We then created our own countryside scenes in Art using a collage technique.

As part of our topic all about The Space Race we met and interviewed Neil Armstrong! We also designed and made our own Space Buggies and acted out the Moon Landing.

To start our new topic - I is for India we did lots of fun activities. We listened to Indian music, learnt a Bollywood dance, tasted mango juice, tried Indian snacks and made lotus flowers.

In Year 4, our topic for the Spring term is 'Under the Canopy' where we study the rainforests of the world.
We have made terrariums to mimic how the water cycle works in a rainforest.

Reception had lots of fun making Gruffalo pizzas this week. We made the pizza dough by mixing flour, yeast, salt and warm water together. Next we kneaded the dough till it was soft and smooth and then we rolled the dough out to make a round flat pizza shape. We carefully used the knife to cut different vegetables for his features.
We used tomatoes for his orange eyes, peppers for his terrible teeth, a mushroom for his nose and a pea for his poisonous wart at the end of his nose.

We have been having lots of fun in Santa's Workshop. We pretended we were Santa’s little helpers. We chose a present from the shelf and unrolled the wrapping paper. We carefully cut the wrapping paper with the scissors and then used the tape to wrap the presents. When we had finished we put the presents into the sack for Santa to take back to the North Pole.

Some of Coral Class showcased there fantastic achievements in Steel pans with a quick performance for the rest of the class. We were all very impressed at what they managed to accomplish this half term.

We were so lucky to have the pantomime come into school for us to enjoy. The story was 'Sinbad the Sailor' and it was hilarious! Some of us even got to take part.

Today our Northmoor choir went to sing at Chadderton Tesco. We were very excited to entertain the public. Many people stood and listened to our wonderful singing before moving on to do their shopping. I hope we were able to put a smile on peoples faces as big as the ones that we had!

As part of our Stones 'n' Bones history topic, we were visited today by someone all the way from the Stone Age! Lucy told us all about what life was like for her thousands of years ago and showed us different artefacts from her time. We experimented with bones to see what tools we would have made with them, made our very own flint arrows, drew delightful cave paintings and then hunted animals with a bow and arrow! What superb shots we had!

In our Science, we are looking at light and shadow this half term. Today, we sorted light sources into natural and artificial, before experimenting with our own shadow puppets. How exciting it was!

For our history topic this half term, Year 3 are studying our prehistoric past, all the way from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. As part of our WOW starter, we worked hard as copralite detectives to discover what humans ate in the past, drew amazing cave paintings under our tables and created superb hand prints to help decorate our caves. How interesting it was!

For curriculum week, all of Northmoor are looking at the book 'Mother Earth is Weeping' and discussing the different things we can do to save the planet. Year 3 have been writing amazing acrostic poems all about the environment, and have also planted hundreds of seeds and bulbs to help nature around our school. We can't wait to see all the pollinators our flowers will attract!

Year 2 have been making moon buggies as part of our Space topic. We designed our buggies, thought about what materials we would need and then created our masterpieces!
