Update - Bubble Closure - Onyx - 26.11.2020

26th November 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Confirmed case of Covid19 at Northmoor Academy Onyx Class

I am writing to let you know that member of our Onyx bubble has tested positive for Covid-19. The academy is working closely with Oldham’s Public Health Team to reduce the risk of infection for your children and our staff.

This means that we have had to close the Onyx Class bubble for 14 days from today. Your child must now self-isolate for 14 days. This means they must stay at home until Thursday 10th December. Assuming they do not show symptoms in this time or test positive themselves, they may return to school on Thursday 10th December.

Only children in Onyx Class need to isolate. You may send brothers and sisters to school as usual.

It is important that we are all aware of the symptoms of Covid19 and only well child attend school or childcare settings.

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

• high temperature

• new, continuous cough –this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours

• loss or change to your sense of smell or taste –this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

I know that some parents will feel worried. Please try not to worry. For most people Covid19 is a mild illness.

If your child or any member of the household develops any of these symptoms then you should arrange to be tested. You can do this by searching ‘Book a coronavirus test online’ or by calling 119.

If you have taken a test, then your household should stay at home until the result is received. If anyone in the household receives a positive result, then the whole family must stay at home and self-isolate. If all members are negative, then your child may return to school as long as you have not been told to isolate by the Test and Trace Service.

Should you have any questions or need any help please contact school using info@northmoor.theharmonytrust.org

Many Thanks for your understanding and support at this difficult time.
