Year 6 - Onyx and Aquamarine Classes: Blog items
Date: 15th Jan 2026 @ 9:38am
Day 3 was the shortest of our 3 days, but definitely the most adventurous. The adrenaline was pumping in our final activities and we left the centre on an absolute high.
The day started as always with a hot cooked breakfast or cereal and then the children were given time to head back to their dormitories to pack up their bags. The children showed wonderful independence skills throughout our time away, however please don't worry if your child hasn't returned home with their belongings - we have a large bag full of unclaimed clothes to go through back at school.
Activities on day 3 included:
- Zip wire
- The dungeon
- Archery
- Giant Swing
- Challenge course
These high intensity activities really do stretch some children beyond their comfort zone, but everyone at least attempted to give it their best shot and for that we are incredibly proud of them all. The bravery and courage was beyond measure and the children experienced new activities that they'll remember forever.
Lots of the children expressed an interest in continuing some of their activities they did at Robinwood, when they return home. It would be wonderful to see these turn into hobbies, so should your child express any interests please feel free to speak to Miss Dunn, who can signpost you to places/centres who may deliver these kind of clubs, outside of school. \
The children ended their stay at Robinwood with some yummy pastry's and a final moment of reflection of their journey during the last 3 days. Then, we walked back down the hill to the coach park and waved goodbye to the group leaders who'd looked after us during our stay! What a wonderful adventure it has been!

Day 2 is the longest of our 3-day resedential here at Robinwood and what a day it has been. We've had many children push out of their comfort zones to stretch themselves in certain activities and the teamwork and encouragement we've witnessed has been wonderful! Children have also had the opportunity to buy their souvenirs for the shop today - if they wanted to.
After a hearty breakfast of either a full cooked hot breakfast, toast or cereal the children headed out ready for a jam-packed day!
Activities throughout the day today have included:
- Crate challenge
- Caving
- Dungeon
- Canoeing
- Knights Quest
- Night line
- Giant Swing
- Trapeze
- Archery
At lunch time, the children enjoyed either a chicken burger or a hot dog topped off with a sugar donut. Then for their evening meal, they could choose either pasta bolognaise or a jacket potato, with a chocolate chip biscuit for dessert. The children had warm showers at the end of the day, ready and raring to go for team challenge night 2. The children played a game of cups, dingbats and guess the animal sounds - we had some fantastic alligator and turkey impressions!
Day 3, tomorrow, is the shortest day in terms of activities, but it is still packed with action, adventure and wonder, ahead of our departure in the afternoon. We will be back at school for 3:20pm, ready to be collected by an adult from the main hall.
The children have had the BEST time, but are super excited to come home tomorrow to tell their families all about their journeys here at Robinwood!

Year 6 have had a fantastic first day at Robinwood.
After a brisk walk up the hill to reach Dobroyd Castle, the children settled into their dorm rooms, made their beds, packed their kit bags and were off for their lunch. The children enjoyed pizza, before heading to their first activity.
Activities today have included:
- Trapeze
- Caving
- Pirahna Pool
- Climbing
- Challenge course
- Crate challenge
For tea the children had either chicken curry and chips or fish fingers and chips, with a chocolate cup cake for dessert! We then settled into some team challenge activity games, before ending the day with a hot chocolate and biscuit.
Every single child has made the staff so proud - tackling every activity with resilience and courage - whilst having a whole heap of fun along the way!
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post - we have a long 14 hour day ahead of us!
Curriculum week - Uniquely me!
Date: 11th Nov 2025 @ 4:01pm
Year 6 had a fabulous time last week during our curriculum week. The week explored aspects of what makes us all unique, different and the vibrant, colourful community that we are here at Northmoor.
Tuesday afternoon - We took part in a Maths activity where we collated data about the different languages that are spoken within our classes. From this, we created bar charts and interrogated this using our own questions.
Wednesday afternoon - We worked in pairs to complete a drama activity where one of us was the interviewer and the other person was the interviewee. We asked each other questions about their culture, home life, hobbies and personality traits and then swapped over.
Thursday afternoon - This was a very exciting afternoon where our parents came in to take part in a creative activity. We explored family crests and how these have been used both past and present. We looked at symbols to represent and created our own crests.
Friday afternoon - Finally, the wrote our own poems to describe ourselves using the information we'd learnt and discovered throughout the week!
Please keep an eye on on school spider/emails for our next events when parent can attend - it would be lovely to see as many parents as possible!
