As part of Safer Internet Day, our years 4 - 6 classes have worked together to identify some of the reasons why we make certain choices on the internet.

Terrariums

In Year 4, our topic for the Spring term is 'Under the Canopy' where we study the rainforests of the world.

We have made terrariums to mimic how the water cycle works in a rainforest. 

Choir at Tesco

Today our Northmoor choir went to sing at Chadderton Tesco. We were very excited to entertain the public. Many people stood and listened to our wonderful singing before moving on to do their shopping. I hope we were able to put a smile on peoples faces as big as the ones that we had!

Electricity

To start our science topic of electricity, we were given a bulb, wires and a power source and had to try and make the bulb light up.  We had a brilliant time investigating what we needed to do to create a circuit.  

Local Area Walk

As part of our work on the text 'Last Stop on Market Street' we went on a local area walk to try to look at Oldham in a different way.  We were very impressed with Tommyfield Market!

Trip to the Hindu Temple

Year 4 visited the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Oldham as part of our R.E. Topic this half term.  We asked lots of questions and this helped us to consolidate everything we had learnt in class.

Greek Pots

Year 4 have been busy this half term, designing and creating their Greek pots as part of the topic "Ancient Greece is the Word."

Outdoor Maths and Flexible Partitioning

We had lots of fun and it really helped our understanding.

Halle

Year 4 brass players had a wonderful time playing with the world-famous Halle orchestra at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester this week.

 

They have been practising playing their pieces this half term and we were very proud of how well they played.  They also had the opportunity to listen to the Halle play famous pieces too.  It was mesmerising!

Citrine Class Local Area Walk

On Monday, Citrine class went on a local area walk around Oldham to get some inspiration for our Big Write this week - a dairy entry based on the story 'The Last Stop on Market Street'! While it was a little drizzly, we were able to find some very interesting things to talk about such as the mural of Oldham, the mechanic and his dog, and the bird hotel!

The Worst Witch

We were studying The Worst Witch this week as part of our "Inspiration Texts" Curriculum Week.  When we came into school on Monday morning, we actually walked in to Miss Cackle's Academy!  We have completed character descriptions, created instructions for spells, made maths potions as well as creating our own animals and studying the history or witchcraft.

Year 4 - Oldham Library Theatre Trip

Year 4 were lucky enough to get invited to Oldham Library Theatre to see a performance of Grandad Anansi.  The children loved the story and so did the teachers.  The children walked through town very, very sensibly and were a credit to the school. 

 

Year 4 Citrine Investigating States of Matter

In science we had a fantastic lesson on states of matter! We needed to poke, mix, pour and sprinkle different substances to decide what could be considered and liquid and what could be considered a solid. It got very messy but we had a lot of fun!
